Wishlist Wednesday: Etsy goodies part 4

Yet another installment of my recent favorites from Etsy.  This time, I'm featuring collections of items.  Some items may look random on their own, but when there is a grouping of them, somehow it makes a stunning visual impact.  If 1 is good, just think how much better 3 or 4 would be!  This rule does not apply to squirrels.

Example: One bunny from ArtMind = cute

Many bunnies = even better

A collection of bottles from Twoartdirectors:

Bell jar with mini eggs also from Twoartdirectors:

Laser cut wood doilies from Uncommon:

Mini creamers from PigeonToeCeramics:

And finally a hilarious collection of cards from NavyBlueNotes:

Favorite Friday Recipe: Dutch Babies

If  you are like me and find yourself wishing there was more egg on your french toast, today's post is for you!  This recipe is by the lovely Z over at her blog.  Dutch babies are amazing--they are sort of a cross between a crepe and a pancake--except way egg-ier.  Egg lovers take note!

Here they are puffing up in the oven

They start to de-puff almost immediately after you take them out.  Sadly mine do not look as nice as Z's.  Probably because in typical fashion I overfilled the muffin pans.

Served with fresh California strawberries and powdered sugar (feel free to douse with maple syrup shortly before eating!)

I can't wait to make these again and am dreaming up of different toppings like nutella, mixed berries, and even savory options!

The recipe ingredients: (makes 12 oversized dutch babies in a muffin pan)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/8 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • pinch of salt
Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Blend all the ingredients together
  • Grease the muffin tins
  • Fill tins to about 1/2 full (I overfilled)
  • bake for less than15 min, let cool for a minute or two and then fill with your favorite stuffings

Wreath of the month: April

I think I was overly ambitious when I started my wreath of the month project.  I might have had better luck if I just chose to make a wreath each season instead.  So in compromise I've decided to tweak my project a bit to become a wreath every other month instead.  And then next year I'll complete the missing months as needed.  Whew.

So in honor of Easter and all things spring this month, I chose to make an egg wreath.  Coincidentally it also was the easiest wreath I've made so far and all I needed were some pastel eggs (nicely speckled from Joann's), a grapevine wreath, and a hot glue gun.  My kind of project.

The breakdown:
  • Grapevine wreath: $3 (at Joanns)
  • 2 boxes of speckled pastel eggs: $8 (50% on sale at Joanns and well worth it)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks: free
  • Total cost: $11
  • Total time: 10 min to make, 24 days to gather up the resolve to actually get the materials and get started
The final product:

Oh and here is where the wreaths I make usually hang--by the back door that leads into the garage.  That way we get to admire it each time we leave the house!
