Sailing on the Elegance

Sailing on a catamaran is one of our favorite vacation pastimes.  It's a great way to see the island from a different view and you're also offered a ton of food and drink the entire time.  We tend to avoid the big party boats and go for the smaller one or two hull boats.  The Elegance was the perfect boat and we had a wonderful time with the crew and our small group of 8 people for the day.

We sailed mainly on the west coast of Barbados, also called the "Gold Coast" as that is where all the wealthy homes and hotels are located.  It is also on the Carribbean side of the island so the water is a bit calmer.

And the highlight of the cruise was getting to swim with the sea turtles!  I'm in the back there playing it cool but eventually I got to touch one as it swam by!

Sailing the Beluga

We had the best time sailing on the Beluga with Captain Tim yesterday.

Here's his first mate Scooner getting comfy for the sail ahead

It took Captain Tim about 15 min to talk me into the water for snorkeling.  In my defense we were in the middle of the sea, the reef was about 20 feet deep and he had just mentioned sharks!  This particular reef is the 3rd largest in the world--it was absolutely beautiful--like being in a tropical fish aquarium!

We sailed all afternoon, enjoying french bread, cheese and rum punch.  Near the end of the day, we stopped off at a beach to wander and pick seashells and then took in the sunset on the way home.
