Wishlist Wednesday: Vintage enamel bowls

I've already nabbed the clover print and this cheery sunflower print and now I'm officially addicted to enamel bowls!  The Finel heart bowl above is so fun and from Adalou's amazing collection!

Here are some of my favorites right now:

And of course the ultimate enamel bowl: Catherineholm

Vintage Monday: Mid Century Record Cabinet

Another exciting find from a local estate sale!  This little mid century record cabinet was all scratched up and hanging loose on its hinge before we rescued it.  B fixed the door so it latches tightly now and upon recommendation from one of the estate sale guys, we used Old English to polish up the wood and it made a huge difference!

Right now it sits in the dining room as a stand in for my credenza that I am still searching for.  After that it'd be a great bookcase for the study or den downstairs.

Vintage Monday: Cathrineholm Lotus bowls

Imagine my surprise when these little beauties were unwrapped!  I'm a huge Catherineholm fan but can't bear to shell out the $$.  B got me my first piece--a teapot for Valentine's day last year and this year for the anniversary/birthday/christmas trifecta, he sourced these wonderful bowls for me!

Sorry that the pictures aren't as great--it was a gloomy weekend with no sun for natural lighting.  Maybe it's time for B to build me a light box!

Here's the large blue bowl

Two small yellow ones

Wishlist Wednesday: Petalware by W.S George

Do you believe in love at first sight?  I do...especially when it comes to vintage kitchenware.  I know I may seem fickle, as the lightening bolt has struck me multiple times, from colorful Fiestaware to whimsical snack plates, sturdy Fire King bowls and gorgeous Catherineholm (still looking for these by the way) and then there was the quirky Canoe Muffin obsession.  But this time...there is just something special about this collection of china.

The Petalware line, also known as Georgette, was produced in the 1940s by the W.S. George Pottery Company in Ohio.  The petals form a delicate scalloped edge to the bowls, cups and plates and its beauty is enhanced by the soft green, blue, rose, grey and yellow colors.

Petalware by W.S. George has officially gone to the top of my wishlist (and oh what a long wishlist it is!)  Until then, these pictures gathered from designsponge, flickr and google images will have to tide me over.

Vintage Monday: Catherineholm teapot

I'm so proud to show off my latest vintage goodness--a Valentine's Day present from B! I guess he does read this blog after all. Note to self: remember to post a ton on wishlist wednesdays

Of course I'm crazy about Catherineholm and I love this teapot--it looks great on the stove. I'm so pleased to have this as my first piece (and hopefully not my last!). Thanks honey!

Here it is in the kitchen:

And admiring its own reflection here:

And speaking of Valentine's Day gifts, here was what I got B. A lovely etsy-er, duetletterpress, hand drew a picture of our house and then letterpressed it onto cards. I got some as moving annoucements complete with our names and addresses and she was sweet enough to also do a plain one with a little phrase underneath. I framed it on a floating frame (bought from Michaels with yet another 50% coupon) and we're hunting for the perfect spot to hang it!

And a closeup--look at the great details!

Wishlist Wednesday: all about bowls

I thought the middle of the week would be an appropriate time to share the many things on my wishlist.

Today, it's all about bowls! Gorgeous bowls that not only look great as decoration but serve a functional purpose. In our home, bowls are handy to put fruit and vegetables in, great storage for keys, loose change or dog treats, and perfect for displaying pretty objects.

Here are some of my favorite wishlist bowls:

Words cannot even describe how I feel about these felted wool bowls from delica's etsy shop . There's something about the warm and fuzzy felt and organic shape that I love. I can just picture putting little spools of vintage thread in these as decoration on my table or shelf.

The next set of bowls are by Fire King. Not only are they such a unique teardrop shape but they are nesting bowls as well! That's double the goodness! I first saw these at the Citywide Garage Sale and balked at the price for the set of three (and there was a crack in the smallest bowl). I did some research online, checked on ebay, and managed to win an auction for the medium and large bowl for a decent price! So I guess these aren't technically a wishlist item either, but I am trying to track down a small size now to complete my set now (well actually, I think the set comes with 4 bowls but I'd be happy with 3). My bowls are the delphite blue ones. Evidently there are jadeite ones as well but they are more than 2-3 times expensive. Now those are definitely wishlist items! (pictures from ebay and etsy)

Finally, a HUGE wishlist want: Catherineholm enamel lotus patterned bowls. These are so so popular right now and I've seen selected colors go for crazy prices on ebay. I keep hoping to stumble across them in a little corner of a thrift store somewhere but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. I might just have to track down the color I want and pay the premium for it. (Pictures from a Catherineholm fan flickr group)
