These are the most resilient flowers I've ever encountered. The original bulbs came from Missouri in the middle of winter. We planted them immediately and they flourished each year. Then when we moved three summers later, B dug up all the bulbs and we forgot about them for a few months in the hustle and bustle of moving and settling in. They were planted in November and I didn't have too much hope for them, but lo and behold, here they are in June...
They sit in our front courtyard and provide a bright cheery welcome for guests (or in our case the UPS man).
This is one of my favorite flowers! They won't grow where I live now. How lucky you are to have them in your front courtyard.
